NEET, The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test(UG) replaced the All India Pre Medical Test(AIPMT) and all individual medical exams conducted by colleges and states from the year of 2020 onwards. NEET is a single entrance examination in India for students who are wish to study UG medical courses like MBBS, BDS and Ayush. It is conducted by NTA and provides results to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. From 2019 NEET (UG) became common for AIIMS and JIPMER admission procedures.
Eligibility to write NEET
NTA has detailed eligibility criteria for NEET examination. One of the important requirements is pass percentage of 12th grade form a reputed organization. Others are age, nationality, and number of attempts. Moreover, candidates who are studying from an open school or have biology as an additional subject are eligible to write NEET.
Qualify exam: 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology and English
Minimum Age Requirement : 17 Candidates must have completed 17 years as on December 31 on the time of registration
Qualifying Marks : UR - 50%, OBC/SC/ST - 40% and PWD - 45%
There is no limit on the number of attempts a student can make. Candidates who are Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs & Foreign
Nationals are eligible to apply
NEET is mandatory for candidates who wish to study medicine in India.
When is NEET 2021
Slotted to take the exam in July 2021 across all the exam centers allocated by NTA. Availability of admit cards in May 2021. Registration will start in February 2021 on the official portal.
Major changes introduced in NEET 2021
NTA decided to conduct NEET online and twice in a year. But, due to certain issues and got cancelled in 2019 and 2020. There are slight changes that may happen in NEET 2021. It might help the candidates as their chances of successfully placing in any of the reputed medical colleges. But there is no confirmation by NTA.
Exam Pattern
NEET will be conducted offline as of now. Total number of questions asked in the question paper will be total 200. The type of questions in the NEET will be multiple choice questions with 200 minutes . of duration. Every correct answer has four marks and wrong answers have -1 marks.
